Description

Handcrafted pewter necklace with adjustable cotton cording.

Symbology related to the serpent varies over the course of history, but often they are seen as guardians of sacred knowledge. It's easy to see how the Serpent in the Garden of Eden, who is instrumental in Adam and Eve gaining the Knowledge of Good and Evil, fits into this role. Much has been written about the Knowledge of Good and Evil, but regardless of what exactly it was, it is clear that the Serpent's intent was to disrupt the hierarchy that God had created. The triangle, or pyramid, has historically represented this hierarchy - or the supremacy of God over man and nature. Thus, the inversion of this symbol represents the opposite of hierarchy: Heterarchy.
